Halloween 2009 Part Two

We had another fun party, this time with the Rich gang. There was yummy food including impressive Spider Bread and the most delicious "Boo" chocolate sheet cake. Of course the pumpkin pizza was a hit and the "smoking witch's brew." Grandpa always tries to convince the little people that it has frog eyes and bat brains and all that good witchy stuff and surprisingly no one believes him!!

The costumes were great but you may need a little help figuring out who is who.....

Grandpa Rich .........(I can't remember, someone from a show I had never heard of!)

Grandma Rich.........a beautiful blond viking

Rachel.......................a fortune teller/spider bread maker!

Clint...........................Conan O'Brien (of the Late Show)

Lesa..........................."Mace" complete with Holiday Oil drink in hand

Tom..........................."Craig"

Justin........................Duane "Dog" Chapman the Bounty Hunter

Adrienne...................usual lame self

Claire.........................Pirate Girl

Avery........................Chicken

Lizzy..........................Zebra

Cole............................Babe Ruth

Macie.........................Cow Girl

This is Lizzy after the party, it was a wild party........

Above: "Dog" Below: "Dog Jr."

And for the finale we had Conan do his "string dance" (is that what it is called Clint? I should watch the show more I guess!!)

Halloween 2009

We kicked off Halloween with a bang! Britnie and Derek threw their annual party that was filled with yummy food, fun games and great costumes. Here are a few pictures of the spooky group! If you can't tell who Justin is you should watch a great (insert sarcasm) TV show called Dog The Bounty Hunter :) It's worth watching!!

Ryan's is the spookiest costume of all :)

A Day at the Zoo

For Fall Break Justin and I took Friday off and we all went to Hogle Zoo. We could not have picked a better day! The weather was perfect and all the leaves at the zoo were colorful and there are also a ton of baby animals! It was great!! We especially loved Zuri the baby elephant who was so playful and fun to watch. We saw a baby giraffe and baby tigers as well. The giraffe was not playful because it was eating but the tigers acted just like kittens (except they were about 20 times bigger!)

Field Trip at the Fire Station

Macie's preschool class went to the local fire station for their field trip this month. It was very fun and informative. I asked Macie what she learned when we were on our way home and the thing that stuck out the most was "to always wear your seat-belt!" I was thinking she'd say something more like you need to crawl under the smoke or if you can't get out of your bedroom you should stay by a window or any number of things that we haven't talked about at home. I guess I have neglected to emphasize that we should always wear our seat-belts because that's what she got from the whole experience!!

Flag Football!

Cole is participating in his second season of flag football. He likes playing just fine but the real bonuses are that most of his friends are on his team! And you can't forget the treats you get after the games :) At the last game Cole scored a touchdown and I even got it filmed. I have posted it for your viewing enjoyment.....Go Tigers!!!

Fall at Sundance

On Conference Sunday we decided to go for a drive up Provo Canyon. It was a very rainy gray day but we were worried that we would miss out on the leaves if we waited. The drive to Sundance was beautiful and Sundance itself was amazing! I thought it would be harder to see the brilliant colors when the skies were so gray but that was not the case. We collected about a million leaves and took a bunch of pictures. Here are some.......

What we've been up to.......

Macie's first day of preschool.....she was super excited! We had french toast for breakfast at her request. YUMMMM!

Cole's first day of 2nd grade....The picture below is Cole and one of his best buddies, Tommy. They are even in the same class this year. Cole started a couple weeks before Macie this year and Cole requested bacon and pancakes for his First Day of the School Year breakfast. No one was surprised about the bacon request, he is the biggest bacon fan I know!

Cole is doing a little reading, his choice in books is a bit spooky!!

Macie is playing her second season of soccer this fall. She is the only girl on her team and has kind of assumed the mother of the team role. Or maybe the boss of the team :) She herds them around and tells them to listen to the coach. In the above picture she is just chilling while she waits to get back in the game. It looks a little uncomfortable if you ask me!

This is the top of the greatest little hike ever! I can't remember the name of it but Jenny took us this summer with her kids and she sent me some great pictures (which I have been too lazy to find in my inbox and move them to my photo file, that is why I don't have them posted here. But maybe I can get them posted when I update our blog -- probably in December since I am so on top of keeping this thing updated!!) The hike was the perfect length and very kid-friendly. And at the end is the reward, a great wading pool and water fall with a million cool rocks, half of which we now have in our yard for our "collections."

We also had our annual Rich Family Reunion in August. It is always very fun thanks to the planning and effort put into it. Everyone has a great time, except maybe my dad who looks like he is wondering why on earth we do this?!?!?
I love the camper in the background. It's classic!!

Here we are after attending the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house. We have loved checking out the new temples in the area and are always impressed with the detail and beauty.

And this is video of Macie playing soccer (at the request of Grandma Dean:) )

Fabulous Fourth!

We went to Vernal for the 4th of July this year. We spent all weekend playing with cousins, riding four wheelers and the "magic carpet," eating popsicles (and wearing popsicles), running through the sprinklers, feeding the cows, catching candy at the parade and having a magnificent time. We have been home for a week and a half and I think we are still recovering!

We also went to the Dinosaur Quarry (although the actual quarry is closed, the rest of the area was open) outside of Vernal. That was really fun too. Cole and Macie earned their Junior Rangers badge and were sworn in and everything! It was great, as well as boiling hot :)
