What a Fun Day!
Today we decided to make a trip to Roy (the Ogden area) and visit Justin's Grandpa and Grandma Dean. We had such a good time, as we always do!! The minute we sat down we were offered all sorts of yummy treats which we all enjoyed, especially Cole and Macie!! We also had a bonus visit with Justin's Aunt Janis and her two cute dogs, Peanut and Midget. They were also a hit! It sure was fun to drop in for a while!!
Then on our way home we thought we should probably stop and see the lights at Temple Square since it is almost Christmas after all! We hadn't planned on doing that so we weren't entirely prepared for the cold. I was the least prepared with a jacket and nothing else (don't get any ideas, I was wearing clothes of course!). I did have a hood on the shirt I was wearing. Amazingly enough we all stayed pretty warm but took advantage of warming up in the visitor's center and of course the restroom stop that is necessary every where we go :). It was a glorious sight. I am always in awe of the sheer number of lights it takes to have everything look so beautiful. It was worth braving the cold and the crowds and Cole and Macie had a great time.

A Real Live Saint!
Many of you may not know that there is a real live saint that lives just two houses away from me. His name is Saint Carl. We just had a HUGE blizzard overnight and I put off shoveling until mid morning thinking that would be better. Well, it wasn't. It was much worse because the wind picked up. When I say wind I don't mean a pleasant breeze, I mean wind that nearly knocks Macie right off her feet!! So as I was cursing the wind and thinking about putting our house up for sale along comes St. Carl with his snow blower!! He didn't say a word, just starting blowing all the snow off of our long driveway. I felt a little guilty cursing so near a Saint but waved to him and mouthed Thank You as he whipped back and forth, miraculously clearing the snow despite the gale force winds!!
THANK YOU ST. CARL!!!

Winter Wonderland
We decided to enjoy the snow we got this weekend, rather than curse it, and cruised over to the park near our house to play! There is a perfect sized hill for a little sledding. We all took turns going down, again and again and again :) And we all got pretty tired, especially Justin, who ended up carrying Macie up the hill most of the time. Thank goodness the hill wasn't very big! Cole and Macie LOVE playing in the snow and no matter how cold and wet they are it takes some persuasion to get them back inside. I don't know where they get it, Justin and I would be ok if it snowed only in the mountains! Justin always lobbies to move to Phoenix in the winter, but that's a little extreme!!!

It's Christmas Time!
On Saturday we got our tree. It was the first big storm of the season and we thought that would be kind of fun to pick a tree while a few snowflakes flew around. Well, there were more like a million snowflakes flying around and we tromped through several inches of snow to find the perfect tree. It is tradition to go to a tree lot in Sandy that has some real live reindeer and of course Santa too! This year we saw 4 reindeer, all girls. There were even two that were going to have babies, that was exciting. But the best part was that two of the reindeer, Snow Dancer and her cousin, were missing an antler each because they got into an argument during their reindeer games :) Santa had been out shoveling and was wearing his work clothes, that was fun too. Also, the tree lot mascot, Tiko the dog, was running around and greeting everyone. She was totally cute and wanting to be part of all the action. She is in a few of our pictures even!
The tree was covered in snow and VERY wet after the ride home so it had to dry in our garage. Finally, on Sunday afternoon, we got to decorate it. Cole was a great helper with lights and ribbon. Macie wasn't really interested until it was time for ornaments. Cole and Macie did a very good job decorating the tree, which was completely bottom-heavy with ornaments and bulbs, until a little elf, aka Adrienne, rearranged the oranaments sometime during the night!!
